Intilaaqah Syria is a Shell sponsored initiative aiming to support and help young Syrian Nationals who are interested in starting their own business, by providing them with the training and knowledge that could help them to start own business. Intilaaqah Syria is based on the Shell LiveWire Programme, An international initiative developed by Shell and run in over 20 countries throughout the world. LiveWIRE is currently available in over 12 languages and is accessed through workshops, training courses. The Programme was officially lunched in Syria in October 2008.

Social Objectives

• Contributes to social development in general and youth development in particular
• Contributes to the creation of new business projects that can provide employment opportunities in Syria
• Contributes to the development of youth capacities
• Contribute to the development of SMEs sector in Syria

Programme Activities

The Programme provides the folowing activities free of charge:

• Awareness sessions for young people about entrepreneurship and business startup
• Business start-up training (50 hrs)
• Offering consultancy tips for Syrian youth after attending the training courses
• Intilaaqah Annual Award

Programme Rules

• To be a Syrian Arab Citizen
• Age between 20 and 32
• To have educational background (last year in university, or last year in vocational training center – or a graduate and just started your own business and needs technical assistance)
• Interested in self-employment
