Intilaaqah in cooperation with the Ministry of Social Affairs Department of Productive Families Development - Mraikh Branch has organised a one-day workshop training some 25 Qatari women in entrepreneurship and the management of small to medium-sized enterprises.

The workshop is the second with the department following one held in Al-Khor earlier this year. The objective is to raise awareness on how to develop a bright idea into a profitable product as well as the basics of planning, managing, marketing, accounting for and developing a small to medium-sized business. Intilaaqah enabled the participants to share their experiences, discuss the characteristics of successful entrepreneurs, and review how they can become more successful through continuous development.

Intilaaqah is a social development programme based on Shell LiveWIRE, a programme run by Shell in more than 25 countries worldwide. Intilaaqah encourages Qataris to consider entrepreneurship as a valuable career option.

Andy Brown, Shell Executive Vice President Qatar remarked “ We are glad to see the cooperation with the Ministry of Social Affairs grow in the support of empowering Qatari women and productive families through entrepreneurship. We look forward to build on this relationship that benefits both the Qatari economy and community”.

The Department of Productive Families Development within the Ministry of Social Affairs has been established in 2009. The role of the department is to guide and develop Qatari citizens and families towards economic growth and empowerment as a contribution to a stable and constructive society. The Department cooperates with different organisations and sectors to establish development projects towards this goal, moreover, works together with institutes and programmes like Intilaaqah to provide thr necessary training, in addition to offering support services especially marketing the products of these families.

Intilaaqah Qatar was established in 2006 in proud partnership with Qatar Shell, HSBC, Microsoft, Salam International, the College of the North Atlantic Qatar and the Social Development Centre. Intilaaqah supports the National Vision 2030, which states that ‘training and support for entrepreneurs is a basic precondition for enabling the private sector to carry out its required role’.
